Richard Heckle, owner, is a Gemologist and Master Goldsmith.  He got his Gemological degree in 1973, from The Gemological Institute of America.

After four years in the Navy, he joined Claude S. Bennett in Atlanta.  He worked there for eight years before moving his young family to St Simons Island to fullfill his dream to own his store.  In 1982, he opened Chadwick’s Jewelers in Redfern Village.

Richard has been involved in, as well as past president of many civic and industry groups and their committees, Including The Golden Isles Chamber of Commerce, The Brunswick Rotary, Southeastern Guild of The American Gem Society, and many more.

In his spare time, he does wood working, goes fishing and plays golf.

He is most proud of his family.  His son, Chad, who lives in Arizona with his wife Sara and daughter Arami; and his daughter Shay, and granddaughter Emma.  Both granddaughters already like working on the jewelry bench with Pa.

He is very excited about what the future holds….

Shay Heckle, Manager and second generation in the business, was born in Atlanta and raised on St Simons Island and Tucson Arizona. She credits her father, and Master Jeweler, Richard Heckle, for teaching her about the family jewelry business.

Since joining Chadwicks’s in 1995, Shay has built a loyal clientele from all over The U.S.; helping to make it one of the Golden Isles premier and oldest jewelry Stores. She has completed the Diamonds course from The Gemological Institute of America, and continues towards her degree. Shay has been involved with many charities, including working with the American Cancer Society Victory Board for over ten years. She Co chaired their event in 2004.

Shay lives on St Simons Island with her beautiful daughter, Emma -and hopes she can Pass her experience and knowledge on to Emma, keeping the Chadwick’s Name in the family for years to come.
